Tears are Made of Ocean Waves
One time when my daughter was four years old, she cried over a trivial matter. She licked her tears.
I asked her, “What was the taste like? Was it salty? ”
She replied, “Tears are made of ocean waves.”
On the left-hand side screen, one sees our living room, and the changes of light and shadow on the floor. Our dog enjoys the sunshine on a winter morning. The elements of a living room-- curtains, a sofa, cushions, and a rocking horse-- are stark and simple, and yet they convey the magical feeling of home. The light and shadow follow the camera poetically to the twins on the right-hand side screen. The kids go roller-skating in a park, clunk happily on the piano, and delight in skipping the waves in Qixingtan, Hualian. Their daily life changes constantly, and yet it is comforting in the way it repeats all the same. Children’s talk is as bright as pearls. Text and images interweave to create more imagination for reading.
